Seashells and seaglass

Yesterday I saw a customer of mine and she told me she had been wanting to give me some shells she had collected in Florida.  She gave me a bag of about thirty shells, each has a hole in it that I can use to add to a design.  Now,  I think I will try combining seaglass and seashells -- will post a picture when I have a design I like!
But, once again, I am so lucky to have customers like this one.

Seaglass Tennis Designs

More Places to Search for Seaglass

Summer time and it is time to enjoy the beach!  Why not take a walk, and look for seaglass while you do?  Check my previous posts for good seaglass beaches in Hawaii, California, Spain, Russia, Greece and Romania.  Today, I will just mention some more.
Of course, the beaches I described in my Bermuda posts are really good -- at both ends of the islanda -- near Alexandra armory on the east end and at glass beach on the west end.  Check my Bermuda posts for details.

Then there is Lake Erie!  I have found great seaglass along the shoreline in Ohio, both east and west of Cleveland.  Better on the west side.  People say that near Buffalo, there are good lake Erie beaches too. 

In Puerto Rico, I have found seaglass near Rincon.  We stayed at a Hilton there, and if you walk along their beach, there is a lot of seaglasss -- mostly white or brown.

I recently received a comment from someone in Canada, who says that there is seaglass on Prince Edward Island.  Hmmm... sounds like a good place to go for a vacation!

Seaglass Barrettes

I have a large collection of seaglass from around the world, so now I am experimenting with some new product designs, in addition to the seaglass jewelry. These barrettes are 2.25 inches wide and have secure French clasps. They are fun to wear.

Travel Tips

I've been thinking that summer is a popular time to get away -- and so you may appreciate some tips from a world traveler!  I know you can always find ideas in guide books, etc., but here are some ideas that have worked for me.

1. Always bring some plastic bags -- zip lock is best.  That way, if you find some sea glass along the way or if you have a wet bathing suit, whatever, you can put it in your suitcase and not worry about it.
2. Pack a first aid kit with antibiotic cream, antinausea, etc. , and bandaids.
3. If you are traveling with a significant other, split your clothes between both of your bags, so if one bag is lost, you still have some clothes!
4. Bring one of those folding nylon bags for shopping trips, a beach bag, or even as your carryon.  Longchamps makes a sturdy one.
5. Read a book about the place you are visiting!
6. Arrange for cell phone service where you are going.  Sometimes you can get a cheaper rate if you call ahead for International Roaming.
7. Don't pack valuables.  But, do wear some Lucky Sea Glass jewelry  :)  Sorry, couldn't resist.

Beach Therapy

I just returned from California. It's amazing how rejuvenating it is to walk along a beach with friends with the wind in our faces, the dachsies running about, the surf crashing and a beautiful sunny day.  It was a shoreline near Half Moon Bay, and I did find a couple of pieces of sea glass, too.  Mainly, though, it was just a time to be with our dear friends.  Try walking along a beach if you are lucky enough to live near one! Sorry I didn't bring my camera on this trip.

Afterwards, I created a Lucky Sea Glass pendant for my friend, and I pray it will bring her and her husband good luck right away.

Sea Glass Beach

Sometimes it is so hard to find a single piece of well tumbled, opaque, gem quality sea glass, but in Bermuda, there is a Glass Beach that makes it almost too easy.  The hardest part actually was finding it!  Please enjoy this picture.   I am having fun creating beautiful designs with my Bermuda finds!
