Sea Glass Festival and News

Hi everyone,
I have been busy after our trip to Africa!  Also, still coping with my neck problems, but treatment should work soon, I hope.   Anyway, just to let you know -- Lucky Sea Glass will be at the Sea Glass Festival in Maryland on November 15.  I will give you more details soon.  It will be at the environmental center in Grasonville, Md with workshops starting on Nov. 14.  Please stop by and say hi if you  get there!  It is just over the Chesapeake Bay bridge. I will be offering special festival deals.

Buying and Selling Online

Lately, I have been doing a lot of online window shopping --everyday there are sales and discount offers in my inbox.  Occasionally, I actually purchase an item or two.  Now I have come to realize some issues that may determine why or whether a customer will purchase an item -- and maybe it will help to understand why my Lucky Sea Glass sales are so much better when people actually can see the items in person!

First of all, when you are shopping on the web, you are going by a picture and a description--but you can't really see everything and be sure of the fit (if it is clothing).
So, a built in hesitation is there -- unless you feel confident about the item as pictured.

Secondly, if the price seems really good or the sale is limited or there are few of the items, you may decide to buy it because it is worth the chance that you may not be happy with it.  That is, if it is returnable.  Sometimes, though, items are Final Sale, and then you have to consider whether it is worth the risk.

Thirdly, I like that some sales include shipping.  If there is a minimum order necessary for free shipping, I usually don't mind as it is not usually unreasonable. 

Fourth -- I rarely return items that I have purchased online, but I do like to know I can if I have to.  My worst experience, thankfully, allowed me to return a pair of earrings that turned out to be just awful, and a lot of money, for a store credit.   Believe me, I was very grateful for that -- and wound up with a pair of earrings I love.

All of the above is to hopefully make you feel more secure about buying Lucky Sea Glass online.  I will be happy to answer any questions you have before you purchase, and after, and you can return an item for a store credit, if you are unhappy with it if you notify me within two weeks of receipt of it.  (less any shipping charges).

Crocheting A Wire Bracelet Today

I haven't been crocheting wire for a while, but decided to create a bracelet today after one of my shops loved the crocheted pieces I brought in.  Of course, I don't always use sea glass with the crocheted pieces.  The one today is sterling silver with genuine sapphires and peridots as well as Swarovski ruby crystals and onyx crystals.  I am sharing it with you -- but since it requires so much wire, gemstones, and work on my part, it is not for sale.  If you would like a similar piece, just email me for information.  I can also use gold filled or copper wire, pearls, and other crystals.  This is a custom piece.

Buy or Beachcomb Seaglass?

Should you buy sea glass or depend only on beach combing for it?  That is the question.  Seriously, I have thought about this when I see amazing colors and shapes  for sale on the web.  But, I never buy and this is why.  I want to be 100 percent sure that the sea glass jewelry I sell is genuine.  I guarantee that it is not in any way manmade or art glass or machine tumbled, and that I found it myself on beaches around the world.  Each piece of Lucky Sea Glass jewelry has its own story that I am happy to share.  PLEASE VISIT MY WEBSITE FOR MORE INFO and my luckyseaglass facebook page.  Thank you so much for your interest and support!

Is sea glass valuable?

Sea glass is valuable. That is, genuine, beachcombed, pure sea glass that has not been machine tumbled or artificially created.  Art glass is lovely, but it is not sea glass.  You can purchase real sea glass from reputable dealers.  Jewelry grade sea glass is not glassy, is opaque and smooth to the touch -  no sharp edges.  The Greek and Bermuda sea glass I have found is mostly jewelry grade.  I carefully select what I use in jewelry.  Of course, bonfire sea glass has more texture to it, but it is still  not sharp or glassy.  Sea glass is becoming rarer,
 so its value is increasing.  Hence, more sea glass imitators!
