A New Painting with Sea Glass

I have been working on this sea glass window for a while. I painted the ocean and sky, used sea glass for the rest.  Next I will pour resin over it once I feel brave! Never used resin before. Any suggestions?

Cape Cod Beach Magnet/Painting

Here is another of my original painting magnets.  This one is of a scene I call Messages on the Cape.  My father and son were flying a kite and sending messages up the kite string. I added actual sea glass pieces to the original painting,  which is now available as a postcard size magnet suitable for framing at my Etsy shop.   only $7 with free shipping.  Very limited quantities.

Sea Glass Hunting Art Magnet

I have been busy filling orders for the sea glass magnet of my original painting  Sea Glass Hunting.

My Sea Glass Painting

I added actual sea glass pieces I beachcombed to this painting I did a while ago. Also, I added a little starfish I had. When I posted it on Facebook it got about 300 likes so I am sharing it here. just wondering whether any of you would be interested in a shirt or magnet with this image?  O.K. so I ordered a few postcard size magnets with this image.  I will let you know when they come in.  If you are interested, they would be about $7 each. Please let me know, as I ordered a limited number.

More Sea Glass in Hawaii

Went to two " beaches" in Maui recently. Really rocky shores. And found some beauties. I will post pictures soon!

The hotel Travaasa in Hana, Maui is awesome!  Stayed in a Sea Ranch Cottage with our own private outdoor hot tub.  Went canoeing in an outrigger canoe on Hana Bay and found sea glass along the rocks.

After Hana, we went to the other side Kaanapali and Lahaina. Searchef lots of beaches, but no luck until I went into Lahaina.  There are some rocky areas that you can beachcomb along the main street. At first, no luck. But then we walked to another area and found some great pieces, including a beautiful red and white frosted marble.  More about that soon!

Travel in the future

After our fabulous African safari last summer, we have stayed put for a while.  But, there are plans in the works for trips to Hawaii, the coasts of Portugal, France, England, Scotland and Ireland and more!  whew, planning takes time and lots of reading!  There are travel catalogues all over our house in addition to the sea glass I have collected around the world and the sea glass jewelry I create.

Sea Glass Art

When I was at the recent sea glass festival, a couple of people stopped by my table and said they were painters (artists) .  After looking at my designs, they complimented them saying I was an artist, unlike some of the more commonly seen designs.

This got me to thinking-- what makes my work artistic?  Well, I walked around the festival and saw some beautful sea glass mosaic wall hangings and picture frames, but few interesting  ( artistic?) jewelry designs.  Most simply drilled a hole and placed a bail or made a simple wire wrap, on many pieces over and over.  So maybe art involves creating something new and different each time.  Even if an artist has a certain style of her own, she should always be creative, not robotic don't you think?

Ironically, the less expensive, less artistic pieces sold a lot faster than my designs. But,  I am not changing the way I create sea glass jewelry.  I know there are people out there who appreciate my art.  Thank you all!
