Weaving wire and sea glass

I am experimenting with weaving wire to create some new designs.  It gives texture to the wire, which is interesting, but I don't want to overwhelm the sea glass.  Take a look at my first two and please let me know your opinion.  Both are available for sale at my Storenvy shop.  The sea glass was beachcombed in Bermuda.

Cultured sea glass, sand tumbled sea glass, art seaglass --- all machine made!

As I am watching other sea glass sites, I am discovering there are more and more ways of describing fake sea glass and misleading or confusing the customer!  Just saw a site selling orange earrings for $12, and the description is that they are inspired by the ocean, cultured sea glass!  Well, orange sea glass is one of the rarest colors to find, and to find two matching pieces would be next to impossible, but to sell them for $12  -- obviously they are not genuine sea glass earrings.

Recently, in a store in Florida, the shopowner showed me some "sea glass" earrings.  Again, they were perfectly matched, identical turquoise triangles  (another rare color).  I looked at the card describing them, and it said they were sand tumbled.  Clearly, you can toss in some sand in a tumbler, and voila, you can create your own fake sea glass.

Genuine sea glass has been tossed by ocean waves for months, more likely years. People study the origins of the sea glass found on beaches -- old bottles, glassware, boat lights, etc.  A well regarded book on the subject is Pure Sea Glass by Richard LaMotte. If you are serious about sea glass, check it out.

Fantastic Florida Sunsets

I just have to share the amazing sky that I saw in Florida.  This was not your usual sunset -- the whole sky was on fire.  I didn't touch up these photos -- they are real.  Enjoy.

Why I Create Sea Glass Jewelry and Thanks

I have been creating jewelry with sea glass for about seven years, and I am still enjoying the artistic challenge.  In fact,  when I am away from my studio,  I really miss the creative "high" I get when I discover a new design!  Customers have asked me where do my design ideas come from, and I have to say Everywhere!  Whether it's a friend who loves angels or my daughter's pet dachsund or Alexander Calder's mobile,  I am inspired by it all.  Of course, the actual piece of sea glass adds its own demands and where it was found is very important to me. I am just thinking about this topic since I have been away from my studio and can hardly wait to get back to creating.:)

December's sales have been amazing and thanks to all.  Please keep in mind I can send items after Dec 19 and there will be an extra charge if you want expedited shipping.  Facebook fans always get 15% off if you buy from the Store on facebook and use the code that comes up.  http://www.facebook.com/LuckySeaGlass

Every Knock is a Boost! Lucky Sea Glass

I HAVE been saying sea glass is lucky,  and I feel it is still true. Even when shops close, etc. something good usually happens after.  I was disappointed when the shop carrying my Judaica line decided to go with mass produced items instead, but soon after I took back my designs, two of them sold to happy customers.  My mother always said " Every knock is a boost"  and she was so wise and optimistic.

Please select your Luck Sea Glass items early!  All are one of a kind.  Shipping will be after Dec 19.  OnLine shop   http://luckyseaglass.storenvy.com or my website http://www.luckyseaglass.com

Sea Glass Is Not Just For the Summer! Right?

I have  been meaning to write this post for a while, but it seems especially appropriate as we are fast approaching the cold, snowy days of winter.  Of course, the beautiful ambers, greens, and whites and cobalt blues are perfect for the wintry hues we wear, as well as for Spring, Fall, and Summer!  Would you only wear a diamond in the winter, or an emerald in the Spring?   Sometimes, the retail shops carrying Lucky Sea Glass believe it is a seasonal item -- but I don't agree!  What do you think?  I'd love to hear from you.  By the way, I always wear a piece of Lucky Sea Glass all year round, for good luck!

Also, Lucky Sea Glass was featured on http://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com  and on the http://www.shophuntingdivas.blogspot.com  blog last week on November 28.  Actually, it is under my name -- Jean Forman.

Star of David Sea Glass Ornament

I recently created a Christmas Tree sea glass ornament, an angel, and a sea glass Star of David ornament.  They sold so quickly, that I didn't even take a picture of the angel!  I put the Christmas Tree up on another post, but here is the Star of David.  It is perfect for those who have both Jewish and Christian family members celebrating the holidays!  I may create some more soon.
